Our Story
K2 Gems & Minerals began as a small appraisal desk in Modesto, California, where founder Mr. Kablanow graded stones for local jewelers who needed a second, unbiased opinion. Word travelled faster than the business did — within a few years, K2 was sourcing rough diamonds, colored gemstones and mineral specimens directly, and selling them the same way it graded them: plainly, and with paperwork to back it up.
Today, K2 works with cutters, mining partners and certified laboratories including GIA, IGS and the American Gem Society to bring collectors, jewelers and first-time buyers a catalog they can verify stone by stone.

Leadership
Mr. Kablanow has spent over two decades in gemology, moving from appraisal work into full-scale sourcing and dealing. He built K2 Gems & Minerals around a simple standard: never sell a stone he wouldn't buy for his own collection, and never let a sale outrun the paperwork.
He personally reviews every diamond above one carat and every colored stone flagged for treatment before it is listed for sale, and still takes appraisal appointments most Saturdays.
What We Hold To
Disclosure First
Treatments, enhancements and synthetic origin are stated up front — never discovered later.
Independent Grading
We don't grade our own inventory for sale — third-party labs confirm what we say a stone is.
Direct Relationships
We buy from known cutters and mining partners, not anonymous parcels — traceability starts at the source.
Fair, Published Pricing
Pricing is explained, not negotiated in the dark — every quote includes the reasoning behind it.
